I’m continuing to process imaging data from the April 8th total solar eclipse. This video captures the moments just past maximum eclipse as totality is ending. It shows multiple eruptive prominences on the solar limb (not to be confused with solar flares, which are a different phenomenon) and development of the effects known as Baily’s Beads, and the Diamond Ring.
This sequence loops three times. Just video, no audio.
The video was shot in Oden, Arkansas, using the following equipment: Orion ST-80 (80 mm f/5) telescope; Orion Solar Filter; Orion Field Flattener; Baader Fringe Killer Filter; ZWO ASI482MC camera.
The video was captured using SharpCap. Processed in GIMP and PIPP.
